David Schmied (1983) has played the piano since he was seven. He attended Zlín Music School, where his teacher was Mrs. Hanacikova. Thanks to his outstanding talent, he also attended lessons given by renowned teachers, e.g. prof. Dubenova (Bratislava), prof. Zdenek Hnat (Brno), prof. Emil Leichner (Prague) and prof. Renata Bialasova from Brno Conservatory (She was his teacher until 2004).
In April 2004, at his final show, he performed a Concert in a minor by Edvard Grieg, along with the Brno Conservatory Symphony Orchestra (conductor Ales Podaril). He graduated from said conservatory in June 2004. He will continue his musical studies at Janacek’s Music Academy. In addition, he took part in Antonin Kubalek International Piano Courses (Zlaté Hory 2003).

Competitions
ZUS competition – regional level in Kromeriz – 2nd place
Prague Junior Note – Young performer competition (Prague) – He was given a special award (the 3rd place was not awarded). He was especially appreciated for his performance of the Preludium g minor by Rachmaninov.
1999 - Concertino Praga – an international radio competition (piano duet with Richard Pohl) – special award
2000 – a piano competition celebrating the works of Z.Fibich, B.Martinu, and F.Chopin – 2nd place (Brno Conservatory)
May 2001 - L. Janacek International Piano Competition – 3rd place (he was the youngest competitor)

David Schmied has had experience with the Conservatory Symphony Orchestra – he performed in the “Fraska o kadi”, an opera by E. Zamecnik

Jesenik Spa 2000 - August – standing ovation.
Chapel – a beneficial concert in June 2000 – a great success – compositions by Leos Janacek. Concert for flood victims in Terezin (2002).
With the Antonin Kubalek Tour entitled "Antonin Kubalek presents young musicians" (Czech Music 2004) he performed a Janacek’s Sonate with great success.
