Karolina Kubalek

began studying the piano in 2000 and the violin in 2003. The Newmarket Lions Festival has recognized her achievement with awards which include: “Most Outstanding Pianist of Festival” (2005 and 2008), First Place in “Open Concert Group” (2006, 2007, and 2008), “Most Outstanding String Player of Festival” (2006 and 2007). The Toronto Davenport Festival has also recognized her with awards that include: First Place “List B Grd. 10” (2005), First Place “List B Grd. 10” (2007), First Place “List D Grd. 10” (2007). The Toronto Kiwanis Festival awarded First Place for “List B” Grd. 8 violin (2006).
Visual and Performing Arts Newmarket invited her to share the stage with three other young artists in their annual Young Artists’ Showcase (Jan. 2006). The Masaryk Memorial Institute honoured Karolina with a performance in their “Nocturnes” series (Feb. 2007).
Most recently, the Aurora Chamber Ensemble invited Karolina as violin soloist in their 2007-2008 concert series: J.S. Bach, Brandenbury Concerto no. 5. Awards for “Most Promising Performance” and “Most Artistic Performance of a Mozart Work” were acclaimed by the 2006 Zlate Hory International Piano Courses in the Czech Republic. For several years, the Royal Conservatory of Music of Toronto has endowed her with scholarships for the continued study of piano at the R.C.M.
Karolina currently studies piano with Marina Geringas - in the Young Artists’ Performance Academy (Y.A.P.A.) - and violin with Hyung Sun Paik (First Violin Toronto Symphony Orchestra). She also enjoys playing in the Mooredale Youth Orchestra. Most recently, she performed at the Niagara-on-the-Lake Music Festival on August 2nd. Presently, she is 13 years old, entering grade 9 at Rosedale Heights School of the Arts in Toronto.
