Dusan
Oravec was born on July 31, 1976 in Jesenik, Czech Republic. He did not
attend music school before his 17th birthday. His teacher was Carmen Langerova.
Two years later, he was accepted to study at Pardubice state conservatory, where
he was a student of prof. Stanislav Jurica, one of the most renowned Czech music
teachers (1996 – 2002). At this school, Dusan also studied performing chamber
music (duo), as a student of prof. Petr Seidl, who is recognized as one of the
best contemporary Czech guitarists. In July 2002, Dušan Oravec passed the
entrance exam at the Bremen Hochschule für Künste, Germany, where he now studies.
He is a student of prof. Jens Wagner, a famous member of the renowned German DUO
SONARE. Jens Wagner specializes in a modern approach to performance and
techniques, as well as in guitar classic, romantic and modern music styles.
Another subject Dusan studies at this school is so-called “Die Alte Musik” in
the class of Stephen Stubbs, an American player who performs on the lute and
various other baroque and renaissance instruments. S. Stubbs is a recognized
expert in the area of baroque and renaissance styles. He also gives many
concerts around the world, performing with different top international ensembles.
Dusan regularly takes part in master guitar courses (Mikulov, Brno, Bremen).
His teachers at these courses have included:
Aniello Desiderio,Carlo Marcchione, Oscar Giglia, Pavel Steidl, Atigoni Goni,
Zoran Dukiè, Josef Eötwös, Brigitte Zaczek , Thomas Offermann and others.
Dusan has been awarded the following prizes:
